1 cup butter

1/2 c shortening

1 ½ cups white sugar

1 tsp vanilla

2 eggs

4 cups flour

1 tsp baking powder

1 tsp salt

Bake at 350 degrees for 8 minutes. (Ovens and altitudes vary. Watch carefully the first time trying the recipe. You may need to increase or decrease the cooking time slightly. Remove cookies from the oven when the edges are slightly brown.) Enjoy!

LYRICS:

A cup of butter is where you begin

Drop it in a bowl and give it a spin

Add the shortenin’, half a cup will do

Then some snowy white sugar, one and a half, then yoooouuuu…

Spin it like snowstorm, spin, spin, spin

Cookies make Santa Claus grin, grin, grin

It’s late and he’s comin’

better bake ’em up quick

For that little plate of happiness

(with carrot sticks)

(Doot-do-do-do-do…

Jolly old St. Nick

better bake ’em up quick)

Okay, second part…

Add vanilla, a teaspoon is nice

Then a couple eggs – two will suffice

Then 4 cups of flour, a teaspoon of powder

Little bakers, how are

we doin’ now?

“We’re spinnin’ like a snowstorm, spin, spin, spin…”

(Deck the halls with boughs of holly,

Cookies make Santa Claus nice and jolly

Doot-do-do-do)

One more ingredient

The last on the list

It’s a little one

but shouldn’t be missed

A tiny little spoonful

of salt fallin’ in the bowl

Salt? Yup, it’s gotta go

With sweetness you know, so…

(Chorus)

(Doot-do-do-do-do…

Jolly old St. Nick

better bake ’em up quick)
